Resist Dopamine
1 / 6

From the noiseto the calm.

You just held still for five seconds. That’s the whole practice.

A dim room of slot machines, lit up and waiting, chairs empty

You can’tquit dopamine.

Dopamine isn’t the reward. It’s the wanting: the itch to check, the pull before the scroll, the moment right before. Every feed on your phone is engineered to farm that moment.

So this isn’t a detox. A detox ends. Resisting is a posture: notice the pull, hold still on purpose, every day. You’ll lose some days. You’re still resisting.

Rain on a window at night, warm lights behind it
“I’m very concerned that our society is much more interested in information than wonder, in noise rather than silence. And I feel that we need a lot more wonder and a lot more silence in our lives. How do we encourage reflection?”

Fred Rogers, with Charlie Rose, 1994.

Everything here is an attempt at an answer.

Once a day,we bait youon purpose.

The Resist is a sixty second round against the interface. Fake texts, red badges, autoplay, one lie about your storage. Touch nothing and you win what the internet never gives you: a quiet minute.

Same round for everyone, new every day.

Its permanent home will be app.resistdopamine.com.

The reminderyou can wear.

Four hats and a sticker, carrying the whole argument in two words. The shop is a normal page. No countdown, no last chance, nothing fake.

That’s the pitch. The rest is a normal website.
